Betting on backgammon could be fun, especially if you understand how to succeed by playing effectively. But occasionally a trick or two might assist you even more and make you a more accomplished competitor.
One of the greatest game plans to win is to lock your opponent in. It’ll prevent them from shifting their checkers away from your home board. This must be accomplished early in the game to keep your opponents two pieces in your home board. So you have to move your pieces to points seven, five, and four as swiftly as as you can and even 2 and three if at all possible. Keep your point of 6 with the 6 checkers where it is. This will ensure that your opposition can’t will not be able to leave your home board and aid your odds of locking them in to come out on top.
By barracading your competitor in, they’ll be looking for double 6’s once all other options have been made to get those 2 checkers from your home board. If doubles aren’t tossed, your opponent will be forced to shift 1 checker at a time, as long as they get a six or better, and leave one checker vulnerable behind. Of course while moving your own checkers, be certain you do not leave 1 by itself where your opponent can send you off to the bar to make your way through their side.
When in doubt, hit. This can help you win owing to the fact that as soon as your competitor is hit, that piece is the piece they must move prior to doing anything else on the board. So if you hit them several times, they’ll have to return a number of checkers back to the board and get around your pieces to win. Be certain you do not hit where it will cause you to be open to being hit yourself. Unless of course it will be advantageous to you, like early in the game when your opposition will not have you locked in.
Hitting when you have a barricade started can also be good due to the fact that as soon as you get a few points barricaded, your opponent will have a difficult time moving their pieces away from your home board and winning. It’s even possible to hit them a number of times and get your barricade setup. That way you can prevent them from re-entering the game and even being offered a chance at crushing you.
These two tips aren’t the only strategy to succeed, but they are great ideas for amateurs to grow into more accomplished enthusiasts. When you master these, winning most of the time won’t seem to be such a demanding thing to do.
